Rain… A Rahmah

I love rain. I’ve loved rain ever since I can remember. I love how cooling the weather gets, I love the sound of rain, I love it’s fresh scent, I love how much more beautiful the world seems when it’s raining.

Dad Talk: 4

Dad’s doing good these few days, alhamdulillah. He’s been eating more than usual, although of course, not quite enough to meet his daily calorie intake.

Still, it’s a huge improvement for us to see! He’s been eating fruits too, and that’s also good for the rest of us. Before his diagnose, we rarely eat fruits. Now, it’s a daily snack after dinner for us.

Chocolate Tofu Mousse

I love chocolate mousse! But I do not like the idea of using raw egg yolk. So although I might order mousse in restaurants, I don’t want to make it at home. It’s a psychological thing, I suppose.

So since I started eating healthier, I am more interested in looking at healthier dessert recipes too (mostly vegan stuff). And I came across chocolate tofu mousse. What a brilliant idea! And so simple too~

Review: Planet Cola

Woke up this morning with a headache that got worse once I reached Raffles Place mrt. So dropped by 7/11 to get a bottle of Coke to deal with it. Figured it will help ease it soon; am not keen to take panadol or aspirin early in the morning.

But instead of regular Coke, decided to give this brand a try since it was on offer: 2 for $2. And it’s halal-certified, yeay!

Chicken Veg Wrap

Did another short round of grocery shopping yesterday. Am so happy to find ethically-fed chicken! So now I know where to get chicken from: NTUC Fairprice. And I appreciate the fact that this supplier/butcher highlights the fact that a sharp knife was used and the chickens were slaughtered according to proper rites. With news that some halal meat (from overseas mostly) are not really halal owing to practices not conforming fully to Islamic rites, a Muslim now has to be more careful in choosing meat especially from supermarkets and hypermarts.

Dad Talk: 3

Today I left for work worried and helpless. Dad was in another bout of pain; he vomited the tea he had for breakfast this morning and his body was aching terribly. He said it feels like his back muscles/nerves are tangled, causing him much pain.

I could only rub his back. I was already running late for work. Thankfully, little sis is not working today, so I dragged her out of bed and told her to keep an eye on dad: massage his back, keep him company till he can fall asleep again.
